I Don't Even Like Him!

As your resident single girl, I have done quite a bit of dating. First dates, talking stages, I even tested out a relationship for a minute at one point (long story). And one of my biggest lessons has been this:

Before you get too invested in that person that you’re crushing on, ask yourself:

Do I even like them for real?

I think as women, we are conditioned to believe that if a man likes you and he’s a “good guy”, then it is our obligation to like him back and give that nice guy a chance.

That’s just not true.

I am not saying that there aren't some amazing men out there that you should give a chance, but I want you to stop being so invested in them liking you BEFORE you pause to wonder if you even like them.

Picture it: You meet him on a dating site. He’s cute enough. The conversation is nice enough. The effort is just enough. He asks you out. You go on a date, and he is smitten with you. He sees how gorgeous and funny you are and how much natural sparkle you have. My goodness, he can’t get enough.

What do you think happens from there?

You start to idealize. You love the feeling of being appreciated. You love the feeling of being chosen. You love the feeling of being desired. You love the feeling of being seen. He likes you so much that you might not even stop to think about whether you like him.

And then the tides turn and the vibe changes. And now you’re heartbroken because “OMG, I really liked him!” BUT DID YOU?

Then, you might take a few weeks or months to heal, and you start looking at him and looking at the time that you spent, and you realize that you never paused to see if he had the same juice that he saw in you.

I am not saying that no man does. But I AM saying that you should know for sure.

This is my last point, and then I’m going to bid you farewell for today.

Don’t be afraid to walk away from a man that you don’t feel strongly about. You don’t want somebody who feels just “meh” about you, do you?
